Artist Research - Digital Painter - Anna Dittmann

Artist Research - Anna Dittmann

I decided to look at American digital painter, Anna dittmann, because i wanted to research upon someones art i liked who was in the same age range as myself. Anna Dittmann is a 20 year old artist form San Fransisco who is also completing her art and design degree like myself though her course is under illustration not animation.
Dittmann also enjoys drawing the same stuff i do mainly focusing on the female figure and creating very beautiful aesthetic bust drawings of females. also the techniques and methods that she uses are the same as mine using the grey scale drawing then layering up colors. however one slight diversion from this technique that she uses is that half way through her grey scale lighting sketch she will cast a color onto it to influence her illustrative direction with the image and use it as inspiration when completing her drawings.
Looking through a series of Dittman's paintings i can see a reoccurring theme of fantasy and nature, the abstract parts to her images seem very organic and life like. i also think her use of color palette is very delicate and fragile, it gives a strong sense of femininity in her paintings. Her style reminds me of a more realistic version of Rebecca Guay's illustration just because of the same color palette use and feeling of airiness in the final outcome.
Looking at Dittman's style of painting and method of work has inspired me to take a different approach to my digital paintings and to try experimenting with my base sketches more. also it has inspired me to use reference imaging more often to revise colors and shapes of objects creating more realistic paintings.
