Artist Research - Alex Negrea  - Inspiration

Full Time Freelancer

Romania

Negrea is a full time digital painter freelancer from Romania who creates multiple project with many different companies. the reason i ran into a picked up on his work was for the company he has been recently doing work for. there has been a prominent influx of artists on deviant art working for the company Applibot.

Applibot provide an android and iphone based card game with stunning visuals created by a mass range of artists and rather actually playing the game I've been using it to pick up and find artists that I've not seen before. For example i was able to find this image in game and by opening up the details on the card in game i was able to find the name of the artist and later search up information on them.

the reason i picked out this artist work was for the level of detail in his digital paintings and also the level of accuracy on anatomy and proportions of the human figure. plus the visuals are even better with all the the attention to detail not only on the main character in the scene, which is the woman, but also the attention to characters painted in the background and how they create depth and atmosphere to the scene. lighting is also a key feature to this scene and is used to create a dynamic effect on the character with her obviously being shaded by something and a strong sense is fantasy imagery is created with the glowing eyes and powers creating their own lighting in the shaded area. colors are toned well and don't create to much of a sharp contrast in the scene, which it doesn't need as its under daylight in an open area, to have sharp contrasting you would be insinuating that their was a strong light coming form somewhere and we can see that in this scene the lighting is soft and not prominent. i think its important to take scene setting into consideration when creating a background based piece. Negrea evidently thinks about this in his pieces and it develops for a better end result which its aesthetics are only aided by this sort of care.

His works inspire me to create more background driven pieces as i often leave backgrounds blank and totally focus on the character, i should start creating concept art background pieces to aid me in this area.
