Final Outcome

This is my final outcome for this project. I have successfully created my 3D character and animated him with a smooth flowing walk cycle that works well visually. i am happy with my outcome and Ive met the targets of my module guide. although this was difficult at times and i got confused at some aspects of the rigging i work past these issues and still came to the desired result. if i had more time i would like to have gone back and worked upon details in my character.

Targets

Targets

i successfully completed all my targets and more. i have all the aspects of my 3D character done and am looking now to start animating him.

i also completed all my writing tasks and analysis of various artists and animators. also about different techniques and methods of animating.

the last of my work to complete is an analysis of my own progress and completing my characters walk cycle.

Glick - animating stages

Here is my 3d character almost done. i removed the lighting from the previous version as i tought it took to much from the character and he looked far better like this. i also added a floor so i had an object i could aim to have him walk on. i added several controllers to his torso section so i could control in more detail how he moved around. hes a very animated comical character and if i has any restrictionso n how he moved it may result in me not achiving the best naimation with him i can. at the movment im sorting out his walk cycle. i have to take into consideration how he move, not only physically but how his charatcer comes across too.

his arms are very heavy and i want to play on that a lot. therefore i think its a good idea if i incorporate it in some way that they swing and drop. i have controller so n each section of his body so i can control him quite freely.

Digital painting - sylveon

This image i created entirley in photoshop. i used the digital painting style where the greyscale image with all the details and shading is on one layer. i then useda range or layer attributes and options to overlay color and texture ontop. this show the skills and knowladge i have picked up during this module and howi  have been applying it.

using illustrator and photoshop

here is another drawing i done by hand then used illustrator to clean the lines in image trace.

then imported the images into photoshop and shaded in one layer then overlayed color in the above layer.

More Digital painting

this is another print i am creating for the convention.

i drew the lines by hand then used illustrator and by using the skills i learned in this module i was able to convert my line art into vector lines.

summer wars print

Whilst doing this project i have been keeping up with creating prints for the convention i have in march.

this is one of them that i have been making using the techniques i learned in my modules.

i use textured brushes in a painting style to create the shapes and background.

this is my progression so far.

glick progress

here is my 3d character glick. i added colour to him and started to create the rigging. rigging was fairly easy to do and joining bosy parts went smoothly. this was made alot easier by the joint tools symmetry option. tthis means while creating one arm the other appeared with the exact same placement. this meant for less hassle when trying to get the joints in exactly the same place so when it came to animating both sides would be equal.
the only difficulty i am having is creating the controllers. this is because its easy to get lost track of joints and what goes where in the hierarchy. its important that i get this part right as it could destroy the whole model.

i think the model has come along nicely. its a definite improvement from its primitive stages. it was a lot to take in and learn but i feel a lot more confident about animation and my abilities in it. at first it was totally obscure to be and i thought id  only deal with drawing but now i have a basic understanding its a lot more appealing to me.

Target

my targets for tonight is to finish animting my characters and have his walk cycle done.
also to finish all my research and documentation.
i will achieve this by following instructions i received in class.

Cinema 4D progress

++
Weekly Update
using my new knowledge of how to extrude points and faces in cinema 4d i modeled out my character. since he is complicate i utilized the use of the symmetry tool to keep both sides balanced.
i am particularly happy with how the transition from 2d to 3d went. the proportions are exactly how i wanted them to be with his overly top heavy arms and body to his tiny pin like legs.
to further proceed with this model i will add more knife points so as that went i enter the shape into hypernurbs they don't round off too much.

during my time in this module i have learned new skills in photoshop. to see how i had advanced in my digital painting skills i took an old image i had never finished from years ago and decided to redo it over. by applying the new skills that i had learned i was able to drastically improve the digital painting which actually showed myself how much i had advanced.  the reason why i am creating other images during this course is because i am an artist at a convention march 23-24. check it out athttp://www.sunnycon.co.uk/artists.php

Reflection, progression and targets.

Model Sheet

i finished the model sheets of my character. all  have to add to this is the pantone codes and character bio. i will use this models sheet to use as reference when creating my 3d models in cinema 4d.
using the reference sheet not only helps me define glick physically but also to capture his personality which is easy to forget about.
