For further progression into the study of animation and illustration i have decided to continue with my education at Newcastle College and advance to my third year of study in the Creative Industries. To peruse this continuation i applied for an interview with the team leaders at the department where the third year students study. After applying to the course i was rewarded with an interview to apply for my third year and to have an an opportunity to demonstrate my abilities by creating a portfolio of artwork.
Upon creating my portfolio i did not just select my own preferred artwork but instead a ranged theme or work that demonstrated abilities expressed in character creation, 3D animation, character reference sheets, traditional media and digital paintings all in different styles and focuses. I felt that this was an important feature to include in my portfolio as i did not want to seem to only have one skill set in illustration but prove myself to be a wide ranged artist that's keen on trying new things and producing a vast variety of work. This way of constructing my portfolio was successful and after my interview i was given a placement on the course. this placement is conditional and my requirement to fulfil in to pass my current year in animation. to do this i will upkeep my current level of work or more and complete all of my work until my final hand in and hopefully achieve the pass rate it am required to advance.
