Character shape research
To further extend the development of my characters I
looked further into character shapes that would be similar to my characters. The characters that I typically found were characters
that had certain emotional and mental flaws. They all speared to be very strong
and touch but they were all alone and feared. They also eventually relied on
others too keep them company or kept others away with their raw power. These characteristics
showed through from children’s animation characters to adult comics and films. The
idea behind it in my view is that the heavy top shows how powerful they are
upfront but the smaller legs and torso shows the weakness that is hidden behind
the raw power on top. I think it is interesting that you can convey a
characters profile because of their body shape.
Due to these character influences and reasoning behind
the character shapes I have decided to base Franklin’s shape on these characters
because I want that hidden meaning behind me character because it suits his
story and personality. The idea that he has trained himself all of his life but
is still susceptible to his emotions and is his only weakness is his emotions
needs to be shown and I think this is the best way without a direct explanation.
